Berlin Street Art

Welcome to Kreuzberg, Berlin, where the streets are filled with magical murals, where every corner has an artwork waiting to be discovered and buildings stand tall, decked up in history and art. Here's my take on the Berlin Street Art scene while cruising through parts of Kreuzberg. It has a sad and bloody history. Once populated by Jews, whose businesses and homes were seized during the Nazi rule, Kreuzberg has been a popular destination for immigrants after World War II. The housing prices used to be very low until the artists moved here and soon the streets were thriving, colourful and lively- filled with great artworks by many upcoming artists.

So don't close your eyes. Do not blink! You don't know what you might miss.

The Prince Charles by Pilpeled

The famous monochromatic style by this Israeli artist is easy to spot in Berlin. It stands apart with it's bold, thick black lines. An artist, an illustrator and a genius! Pilpeled is an Israeli contemporary artist.

Street art by GRACO

We were walking down the street, trying to find the famous Berlin street art when we came across this low income housing block. Stunned at the beautiful faces flaunting a plethora of expressions, we walked around documenting all of it. There are 50 of these, all done by the Graffiti Connection made of 5 street artists Daisy, Lake, Stek, Marko and Kobo.

By S.Y.R.U.S. (Save Your Rich Untouchable Soul), Jadore Tong

Standing unassumingly beside a basketball court, is this hidden gem by Jadore Tong. His inspiration came from the frequenters of the basketball court, little kids. He wanted to make something that would inspire them. A fusion artist and inventor, Jadore Tong finished this beauty in less than a month!

East side Gallery - Multiple Artists

The most popular artwork open to the sky, the street and everyone's eye made by 21 artists to commemorate the fall of the Berlin wall. Ranging from questionable to thought provoking to awe inspiring, this gallery had some amazing pieces by the best of the best. This stretches on for 1.3 kilometers and is all done on the remnants of the original Berlin wall.

'Du hast gelernt was Freiheit heißt und das vergiss nie mehr'- East side Gallery

I'll leave you with my most favourite piece. It translates to "You learnt what freedom means and never forget that". Etched across a part of the Berlin wall, it shows a crack that can only mean the idea of freedom being on the other side.
